Why stacked IT qualifications need a programme-fit check

Still, “flexible” should not be interpreted as “no workload.” Prospective students should ask how learning activities, assessments, examinations and academic support are organised for the specific programme. A working adult should also decide in advance how many hours per week can realistically be protected for reading, assignments, projects and examinations.
What the current off-campus Master’s fees show
UNW’s current Tuition Fee page lists the off-campus Master’s structure as follows:
- Admission fee: US$100, marked non-refundable.
- Tuition fee: US$1,500 per semester.
- Examination fee: US$100 per semester.
- Published programme length for the fee table: four semesters.
Using only those published items, the basic planning total is US$100 + (US$1,500 × 4) + (US$100 × 4) = US$6,500. This is a planning calculation based on the current public fee table, not a binding quotation. The university states that fees are subject to change, so applicants should confirm the current amount before paying.
How the Easy Installment Program fits into budgeting
The same tuition page states that the Easy Installment Program is available for registered students and directs students to the Admission Office for details. The public page does not publish a universal monthly installment schedule, so applicants should not assume a specific monthly figure.
A sensible budgeting sequence is: first confirm programme eligibility, then request the current written fee schedule, then ask what installment arrangement is available after registration. Working adults should also budget for currency conversion, bank or card charges, internet access, study materials and any local document-verification costs that are not included in the published tuition table.
Use the application form carefully
When ready, the official Apply Now page should be completed with the full educational history rather than only the most recent qualification. If a qualification is still in progress, identify it as such. If a previous programme was not completed, disclose it accurately. A complete record gives admissions staff a better basis for deciding programme fit and any possible prior-learning consideration.

It also means applicants should not rely on claims that the university is U.S.-based or automatically recognised in any particular jurisdiction without separate current evidence.

For a South African applicant with substantial IT study already completed, an online MSc Computer Science application should be approached as a programme-fit and evidence-review exercise, not as an assumption that previous qualifications automatically convert into credits.
